Sandra C Roa is a first-generation Colombian-American who was born in Jackson Heights Queens in a time when the area hosted the largest Colombian immigrant population. She has been documenting the Latino immigrant community in Queens through photography, video and written work. Her work in Jackson Heights includes stories about undocumented workers, their economic situation and the families they leave behind in Mexico.
Sandra is currently earning her MA at CUNY’s School of Journalism focusing on International Reporting. She attended CUNY’s Queens College for her BFA in Fine Arts and Theatre Dance in 2001. Sandra is also a faculty member at The International Center of Photography teaching digital photography.
