The Craft of Research

The course guideline for Craft I is that research counts for 15 percent of the final grade.  That portion will be broken into three components.

1. Throughout the semester, you’ll be asked to work on research exercises and answer research quiz questions.
2. You will receive a research grade on the CD beat memo.
3. At mid-semester, you’ll be assigned to pitch and write a “research-inspired” enterprise story.  In other words, the story idea comes from something you discovered by doing research.

Final words of advice: Attempts to lobby or negotiate for better grades will just make me grumpy.  Use early grades as a guide to how much work you have to put into research as the semester progresses!
